The Bingman Stakes

Dr. Bing is turning the big 5-0! Time to celebrate with an epic Scrabble tourney. 

Join us in scenic Glen Haven, CO, for a weekend of games, food, and fun.

The action goes down at Castle Wiegand. Lodging available at the house, which may include shared rooms, sofas, and perhaps a tent! Glen Haven is located about 80 miles northwest of the Denver airport, near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Directions will be provided. The director will coordinate rides, depending on people’s arrival times and rental cars. Consider extending your stay to experience the glory of the mountains!

  • Games: 20

  • Challenge rule: 10 points per word

  • Entry fee: $200 for CoCo Premium Members, $215 for all others

  • Capacity: 16 players

  • Prizes: Generous prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

    • The top two finishers will play in an additional best-of-three finals match for an additional $1,000 prize!

  • Refund policy: Full refunds (minus $5 to cover transaction costs) are available until July 26.

  • Schedule:

    • FRIDAY

      • 12 p.m.: Round 1-7, with light lunch and snacks provided

      • Evening: Dinner served, beers, grams, etc.

    • SATURDAY

      • 9 a.m.: Rounds 8-11, followed by lunch break

      • 2 p.m.: Rounds 12-16, followed by dinner out

      • Beergrams, hot tub, revelry

    • SUNDAY

      • 9 a.m.: Rounds 17-20, followed by prize ceremony and lunch

      • 2:30 p.m.: Top two finishers play a best-of 3 finals match for the Bingman Stakes ($1,000 cash money!). Everyone else can take a hike!

  • Lodging: The director is offering shared lodging for players at no additional charge. Contact the director for more details on lodging in the house.

  • Location: The house is located about 80 miles northwest of the Denver airport, near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Directions will be provided. The director will coordinate rides, depending on people’s arrival times and rental cars. Prior to the event, the director will email all registered players with the street address. Contact the director if you’d like to know the street address sooner.

  • Accessibility: This venue requires players to ascend a few stairs. If you have questions or need assistance related to accessibility, please don’t hesitate to contact the director. We are committed to making the tournament as accessible to all players as possible.
